Purchasing, Planning, and Supply Chain Manager

 

ABOUT THE POSITION

 

The Planning and Supply Chain Manager is a key member of the operations leadership team reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations. They are responsible for the flow of goods from forecast through production, overseeing all supply chain activities, including forecasting, procurement of materials, and inventory management.  The Purchasing, Planning, and Supply Chain Manager makes recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations, coordinates and resolves issues regarding existing and new products, and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage Demand Planning, ensuring that appropriate allocation of production across approved factories is achieved.
  • Coordinate with Sales regarding Customer forecasts, aggregating item quantities and volumes in conjunction with historical data to assemble an actionable build plan that can be communicated to the overseas office.
  • Coordinate, identify and understand factory capacity, both on individual factory level as well as across the entire category, to ensure optimal allocation of orders. Provide recommendations to Asia team in charge of Vendor Selection to ensure customer commitments will be met in-full and on-time.
  • Control flow of order placement to minimize cost and maximize production efficiency.
  • Manage logistics, transportation, and distribution. Activities include sourcing and procuring materials from suppliers and ensuring continuity of supply.
  • Assist in developing operational plans and operational budget for Purchasing and the entire Supply Chain, both in ALI & GL.
  • Manage expense control with factories with regard to charge-backs, penalties, and associated costs.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on Purchasing/ Supply Chain functions within the ERP.
  • Manage assignment of data tables that support item integrity including UPCs, G-10s, Item numbers, HTS, and Duty.
  • Create, maintain, and publish master price list including classification and duty of items.
  • Maintain responsibility for management of domestic and offshore inventory.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to support the Sales function, providing accurate, accessible, and timely information necessary to quote customers and/or secure orders.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Supply Chain Team by providing leadership and training for individual associates.
  • Clearly communicate department mission, goals, and plans.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership qualities to exercise influence both throughout the organization and with external parties.

 

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (or a combination of equivalent education and experience).

EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years purchasing experience in a consumer goods environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading a team of supply chain professionals responsible for managing major subcontracts for performance, source selection, new product introductions, project execution, delivery, and financial results.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to operate effectively at a senior level in purchasing and supplier/inventory management.
  • Experience working with overseas buying offices.
  • Exceptional written and verbal presentation and communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively with global business partners and vendors.
  • Ability to think critically, analyze information, and make actionable recommendations.
  • High degree of organizational capability with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Technical competency including advanced Microsoft Excel skills and previous experience operating in ERP systems; knowledge of Infor/ Cloudsuite a plus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office environment; prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, kneeling.
  • Occasional weekend and/or holiday work may be required.
  • Limited international travel may be required up to four times per year.
